Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. (v1)

The Messiah’s Test

1. His submission — Though He was the Son of God, He took upon the position of a human, submitting to the Holy Spirit’s guidance, accepting God’s trials. (v1)

2. His faithfulness — Jesus adhered to His human identity, using his reliance and faithfulness to God to overcome the temptation of the devil. (v3-11)
