Forerunner of the Messiah
1. John’s messages are like him, concise, unpretentious. His only message was to pass on God’s decree: “repent ye!” (v2)
2. John was special in his way: capable in drawing people to hear him, to confess their sins and be baptized, disciplining people through pointing out the hypocrites. (v5-10)
